Summer edition: the latest information on travel to Estonia and other updates

In this Summer edition of our COVID-19 series, e-⁠Residency is happy to report some news about loosening travel restrictions to Estonia from certain countries and share a few other updates of interest for e-⁠residents.

Travel update

As we reported last month, since 1 June, Estonia is allowing residents from countries from the EU, the Schengen Zone and the UK who are showing no symptoms of COVID-19 to travel to Estonia. Travellers from certain countries within these regions are required to quarantine. This list is subject to change depending on a country’s infection rate, so it is recommended to check your country’s reported infection rate before planning any travel.

Additionally, based on the recommendation of the Council of the European Union, Estonia’s borders are now open to people with no symptoms travelling from countries outside the European Union that have a low infection rate. Residents of Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, and Uruguay can travel to Estonia.

This is good news for e-⁠residents wanting to travel to Estonia from these countries for business, leisure, or to pick up their cards! If you do decide to travel to Estonia, make sure you are aware of all relevant health measures in place.

Regarding the remaining countries of the world, it is possible to come to Estonia for studies or work, but only with a special permit of the Police and Border Guard. Read more here.
