    Description

Presentation and networking about how e-Residency can help South Africa-based founders, freelancers and entrepreneurs expand to EU market.

    About this event

e-Residency is a first-of-its-kind initiative that was launched by the Government of Estonia in 2014. To date over 90,000 people worldwide, including over 300 South African nationals are e-Residents of Estonia.

e-Residency allows smooth access to the 460 million people EU market as it is smoother to deal with EU clients with an entity that is governed by EU legislation, accepts instant payments for EU bank or fintech accounts, and allows to participate in Estonia’s vibrant startup ecosystem which has produced 10 unicorn companies (USD 1 bn valuation).

Recent changes in Estonia’s legislation also allow startup companies to bypass notaries when exchanging company shares during new funding rounds. However, e-Residency also remains a top product for freelancers as it is simply much less bureaucratic to run Estonian entities, allowing Estonia-based companies to be run 100% online.

For those wishing to relocate to Estonia, it is possible to participate in Startup Visa and Digital Nomad Visa programmes. Participants will also be briefed on international tax aspects of running controlled foreign corporations from South Africa.
