3 new mobile pickup points for e-residents
São Paulo, Brazil
Despite not having a pickup location for a few years, Brazil boasts 1,326 e-residents and 389 companies in Estonia founded by e-residents. This is perhaps unsurprising given the country’s population size, ties to Europe, and the entrepreneurial potential of its burgeoning IT, eCommerce and creative industry sectors.
E-Residency provides an easy way for local Brazilian SMEs, startups and solopreneurs to enter the EU market, access European investment, and find a broader client base. Brazil holds a reputation for commercial bureaucracy and complexities that some view as a barrier to business. When contrasted with the efficient, paperless way of doing business in Estonia, the advantages of e-Residency for Brazilian entrepreneurs become clear. Namely, that it’s easier to start and run a business, simpler to register multi-founder companies and do business with EU partners, and is a path to minimal bureaucracy.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Last year, e-Residency launched our Spanish language website, and it has seen huge growth in e-residents from Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries. This proved to us that there is real demand from entrepreneurs in South America for e-Residency and starting a business in the EU. It also became very clear that there is a real need for a pickup point in the region. We’ve therefore chosen Buenos Aires as the first of these pickup points in Spanish-speaking Latin America due to the size of the population, proximity to business hubs, and close connections between Argentine entrepreneurs and their European counterparts.
With already 613 e-residents and 205 companies, we hope to welcome many more Argentine entrepreneurs into the e-Residency community now that you have the option to pick up your card in Buenos Aires!
Bangkok, Thailand
E-Residency provides an alternative to the administrative and cost barriers for foreigners wanting to open a company while living in South East Asia. In addition, local eCommerce entrepreneurs can expand into the EU market, and tech founders can take advantage of Estonia’s vibrant startup ecosystem to build, test and accelerate their startups.
A few years ago, e-Residency opened a pickup point in Bangkok, Thailand, which proved popular with the many foreign expats and specialist remote entrepreneurs and workers residing in South East Asia. While that location closed, the region’s popularity for location independent entrepreneurs meant we wanted to open a new one as soon as we could. A business and airport hub in its own right, Bangkok welcomes many business-people attending conferences or transiting between Europe, Oceania, and the Americas. Plus, there are hundreds of coworking and coliving hubs for digital nomads, remote workers and mobile freelancers across Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
We hope the new mobile pickup point in Bangkok will entice many more locals and visitors to join us in pursuing their business endeavours.
FAQ
How do I choose a mobile pickup point to pick up my card?
This year the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) added these locations to the e-Residency application and renewal environment. You can choose one of these new pickup points when applying for or renewing your e-Residency card.
How does card collection at a mobile pickup point work?
Each new mobile pickup point is coordinated by the PPA. If an applicant chooses a mobile pickup point, their card will be handed out by a representative of the PPA. The PPA will notify the e-resident via email about the arrival of the card, as well as the timing and exact location of the planned mobile pickup point.
How often will mobile pickup points operate?
The missions to new pickup points will take place regularly every three months. As there is one representative delivering cards to each of the three locations, the dates will differ between them. People affected will be informed about upcoming missions in a timely manner so they can smoothly schedule their card collection.
Who to contact to ask about the mobile pickup points?
If you have questions about collecting your card from a specific location, contact the PPA by sending an email to ppa@politsei.ee.
