About me

I'm Mark, a global brand and communications consultant with over 25 years of experience in the luxury spirits, technology, goods, and service sectors. In 2013, I founded Communicating Luxury, a strategic brand and communications consultancy, and in 2019, I established Mission Critical, a weekly briefing service delivering essential information to busy professionals.

Originally from Scotland, I hold dual British and Maltese citizenship. I graduated from the University of Aberdeen in Forestry and have spent most of my career in New York and London. My work has taken me across the UK, Europe, the USA, Russia, the Middle East, China, and Southeast Asia.

Before founding my companies, I served as a Parliamentary Researcher and Special Advisor to the Secretary of State for Scotland. I am also a trustee of Combat Stress, the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health, and chair the Passenger Representative Group at London’s Heathrow Airport. Additionally, I serve as a Non-Executive Director of the Heathrow Community Engagement Board.

I contribute as a lecturer on Digital Marketing for the Advanced Masters in Digital Business Strategy course at Grenoble Ecole de Management. Living in West London, I am an Estonian e-Resident and serve on the Management Board of the Estonian e-Residents International Chamber Association.

Estonia’s e-Residency program has been invaluable, allowing me to keep my business within the EU post-Brexit and benefit from Estonia's efficient digital infrastructure. This flexibility has enabled me to run my business smoothly and connect with a global audience.

"After 5 exciting and productive years as an Estonian e-resident, becoming one of the first participants in the e-Residency’s Envoy program feels like a powerful opportunity to give back. E-Residency has opened doors for me, widened my horizons and introduced me to new people and places. I am looking forward to conveying some of my learnings and the sheer opportunity which alignment with the world’s premier digital nation brings."

My journey

With e-Residency, you can easily register an EU business online without relocating and free from bureaucracy: great for remote entrepreneurs!

2019
I became an e-resident
My e-Residency was born out of three things: one was Brexit, two was just aligning with a dynamic and advanced country, and three, as I have learned, e-Residency is much more convenient.

2019
I registered my first company as an e-resident
It is easier to run my company in Estonia than it is here in the UK. There is less bureaucracy and everything is very efficient.
